Advice needed from experienced Pro video maker!

Hi,

I have to edit a short docu and have full HD 25p footage from my Canon XF305 (MPEG-2 MXF media exchange format) that I want to convert to 6K resolution and are going to use it with footage from my Black Magic Pyxis 6k. From the Pyxis I can get Black Magic 12bit RAW or h.264 extension.

My question is: What would be the best way to convert the MPEG-2 footage so that I can edit it together with the 6k stuff from the Pyxis. I mean what AI model etc.

Hope my question is clear!

Thanks,

David

I would use AppleProRes to work on the material even though I am not sure what the limits of this is. :eyes:

The color profiles are going to be different but you can take the footage from the Canon and upscale it to 6k in Video AI and you can export it back out as either ProRes 422 or H265 and then edit it together with the 6k footage from the Pyxis before sending to a colorist to match the skin tones.

I would recommend testing the MPEG-2 footage out first in a trial mode of Video AI if you do not already have a license as it might need to be converted to ProRes before being brought in depending on the metadata.

If you want to message the support team directly and send a sample they can run a test for you as well. help@topazlabs.com
