Additional Support | NPU AI Processing

I have Ryzen 8845HS (Beelink SER8) and I cannot choose NPU unit as an AI Processor.
Do you have a plan to support it in the near future?

Regarding your request to leverage either the NPU, it’s a great suggestion! As NPUs continue to improve, they could offer a more efficient and power-saving alternative to GPUs for certain AI tasks, and offering the option to leverage either hardware would allow users to choose based on their system’s capabilities.

Currently, most AI applications, including those from Topaz Labs, are optimized for GPUs due to their higher performance. However, with the growing adoption of NPUs in client systems, it’s definitely an exciting area for future development.

I’ve directed your ticket to our Ideas section for review by the development team. Additionally this suggestion can be voted on by our other users. I will note that this has also been brought up in the following link below

So what about boasting in this video?

John,

I am confused by your response. The head of AI in the official video from over a year ago specifically mentions the use of Ryzen AI functionality in Topaz AI. Could you please clarify this?

How about Intel Arrow Lake NPU optimization ?

Our application currently does not use NPUs in processing however this is something our backend team is actively working on developing further in the future. While I personally do not have any additional information regarding this development I have reached out to the team to see if they are able to share any further insight. We appreciate the questions and the interest

Just a heads up to everyone who has participated in this thread and anyone coming to it in the future - now that it has been moved to the ā€œIdeasā€ section, I believe it is important for us to hit that ā€œvoteā€ button at the top of this page.

I’m currently looking at going from an i7-11700k to a 285k, specifically because my Video AI transcodes are taking unacceptably long, and they seem to be CPU limited. In addition to the increase in raw horsepower I was really hoping the NPU could be leveraged too. Had I come to this thread and it said ā€œyes, 100%, the NPU can supplement the GPU to make your jobs even faster!ā€ I would have ordered the new components instantly, lol.

Edit: Jebus H … the ā€˜top of the line’ 285K’s NPU does 13 TOPS. My 4080S does 820.8! I don’t think I’d even notice if the NPU was helping out. Seems it may be just about as useful as an iGPU when you’ve got a dGPU (and aren’t battery bound like in laptop situations) :frowning:
