90% of jobs on mac crashes + why do Video AI deleete the crashed renders?

[If you are posting a new bug, please include the following]

  1. 90% of jobs exits with error on Mac. Converting a DVD to 4K/60 takes about 3 days and usually it crashes after over 2 days work. I also wish that Video AI stopped deleting the crashed file. Earlier version keept the crashed file and you could just do a job on the missing video saving days of computer time.
The same files with the same parameters on Windows work about 99% of the time.
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: Mac15,9
Model Number: Z1CN0001YTH/A
Chip: Apple M3 Max
Total Number of Cores: 16 (12 performance and 4 efficiency)
Memory: 48 GB
System Firmware Version: 11881.41.5
OS Loader Version: 11881.41.5
Activation Lock Status: Disabled

I also wish for the Video AI team to anonymize the log files. Just a simple script that removes the names of the video files and replaces the names with for example 1.

One of the error messages you are seeing is due to trying to export an 8k resolution file using the H264 codec, you will need to swap to H265 or ProRes to do this as H264 will not handle above 4k resolution in the app.

The other errors I see are processing errors on your clips.

Try clearing the Plists files for Video AI and restarting your system. Then relaunch the app and try your clip again.

If that does not resolve the issue, pull the updated logs and send to the support team for review.

100% errors the last 7 files.
Is this normal for mac users? Or should I play Windows and reformat my mac and see of this fixes the issue.
I do not convert to 8K. It is 4K60. H265 codec. Audio passthru.
Sometimes file that craches works if I simply do not process audio.

The source files are from a bluray converter to X265 with Handbrake. Then the handbrake x265 file is processed into short clips with Quicktime H264 in -mov container.

every single file exit in error

I totally support the idea of log file obfuscation. At the moment I think it’s a privacy nightmare, but Topaz doesn’t seem that bothered. Yes, I know users can upload logs directly to Topaz Support, but you don’t ALWAYS make that clear, only occasionally. Are users really expected to know what personal information is in the log files and that it’s available for all users to see when uploaded here?

Thanks.

Thanks for all the input and help me resolving this issue. I appreciate it.

I followed the recommendation to install TopasVideoAI fresh.
deleted all relevant files in /library /user/“username”/library
and the TopazVideoAI app.

I reprocessed the last seven failed files and six of them processed correctly. I therefore am hopeful that the issue is mostly solved.

Thanks.
