I saw in some email correspondence with you guys that you would like to see some results from using your product to help train your AI software. I was so impressed with my first result after using the latest version of Gigapixel that I thought I’d share it with you. Its a photo of my mother as a teenager taken about 80 years ago. After using Gigapixel to recover the photo, I did some small tidying up with Photoshop as well but Gigapixel did 95% of the work.
I made the same with an old photo of my mother and got similar issues with the hair that at a certain point was not recovored and remained blurry!
I guess there are limits to any AI when the subject matter (in this case the hair) blends into the background so much that the AI can’t differentiate between the two? After Gigapixel did its work, I brought the image into Photoshop. After sampling a spot of colour, I used a soft brush with a fairly strong feather edge to clean up the background. This probably affected the edge of the hair to some degree as well. I am still amazed at what it can do.
I tried to edit a photo of my aunt (about 2 years old) from around 1915-1917 (my father, her brother, was not yet born) and I also achieved a nice result. However, it was similar with the hair.
Hi.
Nicely done, I was wondering if you considered using Redefine with a Creativity level of 2 to recover lost hair details then applying Face Recovery
Face Recovery only works with Redefine Creativity levels 1 and 2 and not levels 3 to 6 having said that, you can still use a higher Creativity settings to recover even more detail however, it’s advisable to make more than one instance of the image before doing so for instance one image with Redefine applied and another with Face Recovery
Because, with Creativity levels 3 to 6 Redefine begins to transform the image, hence the name Creativity therefore, you’ll probably need to do a touch of compositing with the images in Photoshop.
Also, have you tried Redefine’s Advanced Settings (Advanced Settings only works with levels 2 and above) by typing into the text prompt and describing your image
Hope this helps
Hi,
some good tips there. I’ll look into it a bit more. I must admit I am on a journey of discovery at this stage so any knowledge about the use of Gigapixel is appreciated.
Cheers.
Certainly if you want to ask any questions I’ll be glad to help in the meantime here’s some Topaz links that might help and a helpful YouTube video from Topaz
