I’ve notice the blur type square block artifacts on complex backgrounds, leaves, fences ect is not bad on 720p, but the exact same scenes at 1080p have these artifacts. This is purely the exact same scenes at both resolutions tested in multiple movies. Big difference. Less artifacts at 720p. No other processing done. Downscale to 720p from 1080p was done in handbrake before running topaz on it.
Hi, I’m Not using slo mo. Just fps increase for movies I have on blu ray.
Texas chainsaw massacre, As Alexandra daddario is waking across a deck with a waist high fence in front, It’s blurring the fence. Not even a fast pan. Just walking. Time stamp is 25:15. This is seen on 720p and 1080p, but NOT 480p. The lower resolutions have less issues. This makes no sense. I’m not interested in upscaling back to 1080p after downscaling to 480p. It wont’ look as good as native higher resolution and it’s a waste of time.
This is something that needs work. Apollo doesn’t do this, but apollo has other issues and It’s not as natural as chronos.
In Cursed, Christine Ricci, at 22:50 to 23:00 this background wallpaper is getting a blur without even any panning at 1080p, but not 720p.
I’m sure your technical team is fully aware of these kind of artifacts. I can take the time to upload pictures if you need to, but I’m sure you’re fully aware of this limitation. For some reason it’s worse in certain scenes like one above at 1080p. That checkerboard wallpaper pattern was causing this pulsating blur.
And I should also mention that downscaling to just under 720p, like 1042 from 1200 caused the blur to go away as well on texas chainsaw scene. It’s clearly having issues with higher resolutions. It can’t handle the calculations properly, which shouldn’t be an issue since processing time is increasing giving it more time with higher resolutions.
I realized the lower resolution just gives different artifacts in different scenes. It’s clearly just a limitation of the model. Chronos is still the best by far. I just wish they could fix some of these artifacts around fences and other complex geometry/ This wobbling type of blur.
