7.0.1 problem processing Prores input files

Hi, I just recently started seeing an issue processing Prores files in TVAI 7.0.1 – the input file loads properly, I can select any / all codec and processing options, but then the process immediately errors out when processing starts. To make it even more complicated, it seems like the problem is from Prores files created from the output of Staxrip, as I’ve had no issues with Prores files from other sources.

There was a recent Staxrip update, but this compatibility problem with TVAI still exists when I revert back to an earlier version of Staxrip. I’m working on a project ripping and enhancing a pile of old DVDs, and I’m using Staxrip for deinterlacing. Since the Staxrip output is an intermediate step in my workflow, I’ve been using Prores as the output codec for no quality loss and then bringing the filesize way back down with the TVAI output files.

Using a different codec to export from Staxrip still works with TVAI, and converting the SR Prores files to AV1 in Handbrake works, as well. I’m trying to avoid the extra step of converting in Handbrake if at all possible, so I’m hoping that someone can read these log files and give me an idea of what might be going on. TIA

There was a change in v7 with the FFMPEG backend which has changed how some source files are being read in the app. Using Handbrake to remux the video source is a current workaround while the team investigates the situation.

Hi Kyle,

That definitely fits – I forgot to mention in my post that the Staxrip output files were generated using ffmpeg. Thanks for the quick reply, I have no problem using temporary workarounds. Glad to hear you’re aware of it!

Thanks,
Chris
