4K UPSCALE

Any constructive criticism i’m more than happy with the first attempt, this music video was only available on YouTube at 480p, so i went a little too far, and it zoomed up to 8k (bit excessive), but played at HD or FHD it has brought it to life, i look forward to more but i really could use some help with some settings.

Mainly, do people ever use frame interpolation? Is that where it becomes to jelly like?

Totally new i went from a HD version which someone put up, so the movement isn’t great, and ran a new HD deinterlace, and some enhancements, enabled parameters, and just took a chance with fixed Iris mq > Compression 60 > Improve Detail 35. Sharpen 10 and hoped for the best.

Thats a pretty tough video due to the lighting and the constant movement.

Was the video downloaded in an interlaced format? If not, then you would not need to run deinterlacing on it.

If it started at 480p, I would only push it to 1080p to help minimize the distortions in the background and look at playing with Rhea, Proteus and Iris to see what gives the best result. Could also run a pass with it at the original resolution to enhance it and then do a second pass of upscaling with the cleaned up version. Might help.

Already upscaled YT video was taken and upscaled to 8k? If this is the case, there is not much that can be done, but if you have 480p orig one, ideally a 1:1 rip from DVD or VHS one, you can do a lot more with it
